Since 1999, the Medical Faculty of the University of Bern has offered the two-year medical education postgraduate programme "Master of Medical Education".

The study course is aimed at training didactically competent managers in the healthcare professions. The MME programme employs international lecturers and is based on the latest didactical and methodological knowledge from the area of adult education.

The teaching offer in the MME programme ensues in cooperation with other universities, for instance the University of Illinois in Chicago and the Universities of Amsterdam, Geneva, McMaster in Hamilton, Lausanne, Maastricht (NL), McGill in Montreal, Rotterdam (NL) and Vienna (A).
