The AUM advises and supports the Medical Faculty of the University of Bern in the design and implementation of teaching as well as with the practical examinations. Likewise, the AUM supports the Federal Office for Public Health in carrying out the Federal Clinical Skills Examination. In this regard, the AUM is able to draw in particular on its knowledge and know-how in the area of IT support of teaching, development and the use of learning media, training of simulated/standardized patients, concept and implementation of different, also interprofessional teaching courses and Clinical Skills training programmes.

The AUM runs the Medical Learning Centres in Murtenstrasse and Bühlstrasse as well as the Bern Interdisciplinary Skills and Simulated/Standardized patient centre BiSS.

The AUM monitors the development of new technologies and evaluates their use for teaching.

It is committed to the evidence-based principles of education and contributes to improvement of the evidence basis through evaluations and research.
